In my life and work, I am always thinking about how to build bridges. Strong, safe, sustainable ones. As a first-generation Iranian-American femme living in diaspora, I know what it means and feels like to have the bridges within my heart and communities neglected, violated, and disrespected.

I use my craft–my writing, spoken word, creative facilitation, and organizing–as my cutting torch. My angle grinder. With them, I try to weld myself and the communities around me to be a sturdier, more durable place. The epicenter of my art and life’s work is to build bridges within myself and beyond myself.

With over 10 years of creative and community work in a variety of containers, I use a fusion of my intuitive and practical experience to support and empower people from all dimensions of life. From teens writing their first essays to corporate executives reworking their contracts to award-winning authors compiling their manuscripts, I’ve been there alongside them every step of the way.

In 2019, I deepened and expanded my interest in the art of expression and community work by pursuing my Master in Psychology. I specialized in Applied Community Psychology, further honing in on my ability to support and uplift collectives using educational workshops and consultation work, all backed by theory and research-based approaches.

My writing and other collaborative works have always focused on reinforcing foundations. My poetry and spoken word concentrate on the intersections of heritage in my body, my family, culture, and language. Exploring how they are all profoundly grounded in love. I have had my work featured with the United Nations, Segerstrom Center of the Arts, House of Blues, Write About Now, Nat. Brut, Tinderbox Poetry, BOAAT, and many other gems. I took first place at the 2018 Jack Rabbit Poetry Slam and am a two-time finalist of the Stories Award for Poetry, winning the second time around.

My debut book Birthday Girl is out with Not A Cult Press.

Currently, I’m creatively exploring the wild terrain of grief, mindfulness, and friendship while nuzzled contently with my spouse, Will, and our pups Mellon and Colley in Long Beach, CA.
